I'm Laszlo. I answer my own phone, and I've been doing this since 2009.
When you call Costa Plumber, you get me. Not a call centre, not a dispatcher reading from a script. Me, the plumber who'll be at your door.
I know that matters more here than it does back home. You're on the Costa del Sol, maybe you don't speak Spanish, and the last thing you need when a pipe's burst is to explain the problem twice to two different people. So you won't have to. You call, we talk, I come and fix it.
How I got here
I trained as a telecommunications technician in Hungary, where I grew up. In 2008 I moved to the United Kingdom, and a year later I started a small maintenance company. It began with nothing more than a desk in a kitchen and a lot of hard work.
Word got round. Customers told their friends, their friends told theirs, and the business grew from a local job here and there into a company working across much of England, from Manchester down to Brighton. At our busiest, we had 28 people on the team and had helped more than 70,000 customers. We worked for homeowners, insurance companies, and some of the country's biggest property contractors, doing emergency plumbing, gas, roofing, and general property repairs.
Running a company that size taught me things you don't learn just fixing pipes: how to manage a team properly, how to keep to a schedule, how to stay calm and professional when a job's gone wrong and a customer's stressed. Those habits never left me. They're how I still work today, even on my own.
After Brexit and the pandemic, good tradespeople became hard to find and keep in the UK, so we made the call to close the company after many good years. During that time I also ran a plumbing business in Hungary, which added even more to what I'd learned.
Why the Costa del Sol
I brought all of that experience here, to Marbella and the coast around it. Costa Plumber is a newer company, but it's built on years of real work, not a fresh start from nothing.
I cover Marbella and the western Costa del Sol, from La Zagaleta and Puerto Banús in the west, right along to Calahonda and La Cala de Mijas in the east. Most of my work is around Marbella itself, and I know the area well, from the big villas up in the hills to the apartments along the coast road.
What I'm qualified to do
I trained and qualified in the UK, across gas, water, and heating. Here's what I hold:
- UK gas qualifications (ACS), covering central heating, boilers, water heaters, gas cookers, and gas fires
- Unvented hot water systems (G3), for safely installing and maintaining pressurised hot water tanks
- UK Water Regulations, so plumbing work is fitted the right way, not just a quick fix
- F-Gas Category 1, the top level for refrigerant and air conditioning work
- Vaillant heat pump training, including their aroTHERM Plus systems
- IOSH Managing Safely, a UK health and safety qualification
These are real, UK-issued certificates, not a weekend course. I trained properly because I wanted to do the job properly, and I still do.
What working with me actually looks like
- You speak to me directly. No call centre, no scripts.
- I turn up when I say I will. If I'm running late, you'll know before you're wondering.
- You get a price before I start. What I quote is what you pay.
- I clean up after myself. You shouldn't be able to tell I was there, except that the problem's fixed.
- If something's not right after I've gone, I come back and sort it.
That's not a marketing line. It's just how I was taught to work, and how I've always run a job, whether I had 28 people behind me or it's just me and the van.
